Minerals and Fossils Museum

Located in the heart of Rougemont, the Minerals and Fossils Museum invites visitors on a fascinating journey through time. Its collection of more than 2,000 specimens reveals the geological treasures of our planet, some dating back nearly 550 million years.

Located in the basement of Rougemont's municipal building, the Minerals and Fossils Museum houses an impressive collection of more than 2,000 minerals and fossils. Whether you are a geology enthusiast or simply curious, the museum offers a fascinating insight into the history of the Earth and its remarkable geological heritage.

As you explore the exhibition, discover an extraordinary variety of shapes, colours and textures. Some of the specimens are nearly 550 million years old and illustrate the evolution of our planet through the geological ages.

Opened in 1973, the museum was created thanks to a generous donation from the Cottier family to the Municipality of Rougemont in gratitude for welcoming many children during the Second World War. Today, this unique collection offers an enriching experience for visitors of all ages.

To complete your visit, the Rougemont Tourist Office also organises guided tours of the village at selected times throughout the year.
