This educational loop leads to the impressive Sapin des Jeurs, a white fir tree around 250 years old. Along the way, roots, seeds, young shoots, deadwood and forest life reveal the secrets of a rich, fragile and fascinating ecosystem.<\/p>\n","itinerary_intro_intro":"<p>The Sentier des Jeurs is an easy forest walk full of discoveries, ideal for a family outing in Ch\u00e2teau-d\u2019Oex. Along the route, panels and pictograms guide walkers through the main stages in the life of a tree: from seed to young plant, from roots to trunk, all the way to the essential role played by deadwood in the forest.<\/p>\n<p>The highlight of the itinerary is the majestic Sapin des Jeurs. This white fir probably started growing around 1775 and now stands nearly 45 metres tall. Its diameter at breast height is 1.42 metres, which equals a circumference of 4.45 metres. Although it is already around 250 years old, it could live for several more centuries if conditions remain favourable.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the walk, the trail raises awareness of forest biodiversity in the Pays-d\u2019Enhaut.
